Hyperion, in partnership with Allen-Vanguard and Edey FX, have developed a trailer based Joint Fires simulator to conduct mixed reality training using the Varjo XR-4 headset within a blusecreen environment to provide a fully immersive training experience. The pass-through technology within the XR-4 provides the ability for the trainee to operate full form, fit, function equipment, allowing the JTAC or JFO to conduct Type 1, 2 and 3 controls, both day and night with simulated equipment that matches his operational load.
The system provides the ability to meet the accreditation standards for JTAC and JFO training set by NATO and the Joint Fires Support Executive Steering Committee (JFS ESC) and is run from an Instructor Operator Station and Pilot Station. By rerolling the Pilot Station as a second Instructor Operator Station, the observation station can be configured into a second Type 2 and 3 simulator to match a range of training scenarios.
The trailer provides a mobile, road legal, fully environmentally controlled environment, that can operate from mains or generator power, allowing trainees to operate in high and low external temperatures at a location of their choosing.
